Lukashenka’s secret residence on protected lake

Lukashenka is building yet another residence on the shore of Lake Severny Volos in Braslav Lakes district.

A journalist of ‘Vestki” website met with a person involved in construction works. He agreed to speak about the new project on conditions of anonymity.

“Thousands of tonnes of sand were carried here to construct a quay. The residence will be enclosed by 5-kilometre log fence. Each section costs 1,200,000 Belarusian rubles. The residence will need 60 service personnel,” the source said.

According to him, the construction works are due to end in May. 300 construction workers are to be sent to the site in the nearest day for finishing works.

A unique place was chosen for the object. It is located in Mezozyorny reserve, where setting fires and driving have been forbidden before. Medical clay of Lake Severny Volos is often compared with the Dead Sea clay.

Wide public is kept unaware about the construction works. Common people may not understand why a residence in a protected area is being built amid the country’s financial problems.
