Yet another DDoS attack on Charter’97 website

The charter97.org website faced a massive DDoS attack at 9:00 am (Minsk time) today.

The server was turned off due to the increased traffic and the site became unavailable for users for some time. We suppose it was just a rehearsal and the site will soon be attacked again.

We view this as the authorities’ desire to block charter97.org for Belarusians and think it is the Belarusian authorities who stands behind this act of cyberterrorism.

We remind that in late March, the General Prosecutor’s Office issued an order to block charter97.org for governmental agencies, cultural and educational institutions, but the ban has an opposite result – the site’s traffic rose.

Notice:

A DDoS attack is an attack on a server through a distributed network of compromised computers, which, unbeknownst to the user, send false requests to the targeted server on an attacker’s command that can block the server or cause it to malfunction.
