A Polish newspaper Rzeczpospolita writes about a closed meeting of Prime Minister Donald Tusk and the EU leaders.
At the closed meeting with the leaders of the European Union on September 29 in the evening in Warsaw Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk was to sound an offer to demand from the official Minsk not resignation of Alyaksandr Lukashenka, but holding a democratic parliamentary election and total amnesty of political prisoners, BelaPAN informs.
Among other things, in exchange Minsk could expect a loan from the International Monetary Fund, support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the European Investment Bank.
The Polish newspaper also notes that Belarusian opposition has a critical attitude to Tusk’s offer. For instance, ex-candidate for presidency in Belarus Ales Mikhalevich called this idea bargaining with the terrorist.
In addition, Rzeczpospolita informs about the yesterday’s meeting of Mikhalevich and a few other Belarusian oppositionists with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who assured them that Germany would strongly insist on release of political prisoners by Minsk.
