Martin Schulz: Death penalty — example of isolation of Belarus

President of the European Parliament condemned the existence of capital punishment in Belarus.

‘This is one further example of how much Lukashenka has managed to isolate Belarus from the rest of the international community,' - Martin Schulz said.

On 10 October the international community marks the World Day against Death Penalty, The New Europe informed.

According to Amnesty International, 140 states worldwide have abolished in law or practice the capital punishment, representing more than 70% of all countries in the word.

Belarus is the only European country which still deploys capital punishment practices.
