A concert of Belarusian band RockerJocker as part of Belarusian Culture Days in Poznan has been cancelled.
The new was spread by the Polish media with a link to the local authorities, Belorusski Partizan reports. Members of the influential party Law and Justice stood against holding a concert of the band, whose song “Sanya will stay with us” became the unofficial anthem of Alyaksandr Lukashenka's campaign.
The group was to play a concert on October 28 during the Belarusian Culture Days in Poznan, the event financed by the Marshal Office of the Wielkopolska Region. Local representatives of Law and Justice party proposed to ban the concert.
The band representatives said on October 10 that musicians did not cooperate with the Belarusian authorities and the song had been used in the presidential campaign without the knowledge or consent of the authors. But this statement didn't help the musicians.
The local authorities announced on the evening of October 12 that they stopped financing the festival due to the concert of the band.
