Bishkek waits for Minsk's “direct reply”

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan waits for Minsk to give a “direct reply” to an official note regarding the extradition of the country's former president Kurmanbek Bakiyev.

This statement was made by Kyrgyz MFA spokesman Nurzhigit Kadyrbekov at a press conference on Tuesday, Interfax news agency reports.

“We are waiting for a direct reply to our official note that has not been received so far.  If remarks by the Belarusian Ambassador to Kazakhstan are true, we regret that criminal prosecution and obligations uner the CIS Minsk and Chisinau Conventions are being moved to the political sphere,”  Kadyrbekov said.

“Processes of Kyrgystan's accession to the Customs Union and criminal prosecution lie in different areas. No trade is possible here,” the MFA representative stressed.
