Only 170 out of 400 employees continue to work at Berezastroi company.
According to Ivan Tarasevich, the leader of the trade union branch of the plant, the rest workers failed to extend their employment contracts this year, Viasna human rights centre reports.
Employees accuse managers of Berezastroi company, who failed to re-organise the enterprise, though they had such plenty of opportunities. Workers say Berezastroi's core business – reinforcement shop – was sold and the sawmill was leased out. The company looks for buyers to sell the rest. Workers accuse incompetent managers of bringing the company to losses.
Workers think managers don't want produce more. Two new MAZ trucks and two excavators were recently bought, but the administration doesn't look for people or organizations to lease out the equipment and earn.
Berezastroi deputy director Viktar Yurkevich says production volumes and financing are not enough. In addition, the company has to pay its high-interest loans for equipment and wages.
Employment contracts of the employees, who still work for the company, expire soon. No one knows what will be with people, though some of them have only 3 or 5 years left before the pension age.
Workers are going to apply to the State Control Committee and the Investigation Committee to receive more information about the situation at the intersperse, where they have worked for 20-30 years.
