Milk and kefir prices will go up 35%

In order to bring law fat dairy products back to shops it was allowed to increase prices 35%.
Law fat dairy products and clear dairy without fillers used be really rear in the shops of Belarus. The Ministry of Economy stated that their production almost stopped completely because of unprofitability. In order to bring the products back to shops the ministry allowed to increase price limits prices 35%. Bread will increase in price as well, TUT.by reports.
35% price increase will be applied to milk and kefir with fat percentage up to 3,5%, sour cream with up to 25% fat, cottage cheese with up to 9% fat without flavor additives or fillers.
As the ministry’s press-release says, it should shorten the difference in the price level for different dairy products and get manufacturers interested in increasing the production volume of law fat products. The Ministry of Economy’s decree number 86 come into force on 27 October.
Other dairy products will face less significant price increase. According to the Ministry of Economy’s decree, in October producers were allowed to raise the prices for 4% on high fat milk, kefir, sour cream, cottage cheese as well as on similar dairy products with flavor additives or fillers.
The Ministry of Economy started regulating the prices on high fat dairy products in April. Then a decision was made for milk processing enterprises not to increase the prices above the prices set up on 29 April 2012. In August and September producers were allowed to increase prices 4% a month.
Apart from that the Ministry of Economy is 10% increasing the limit prices on such merit goods as bread. The reasons are the same: it is supposed to compensate the price increase on grain raw materials, limiting the unprofitability and saturation of the consumer market. Other kinds of bread and bread products will increase in price 3%.
