Three days in custody and seizure of flag

Activist Stanislava Husakova was found guilty of participating in an allegedly unsanctioned rally and using unregistered symbols.

The court ruled that a national white-red-white flag should be seized, Radio Svaboda reports.

Husakova was detained last Saturday after a picket to pay tribute to the memory of the rebels led by Kastus Kalinouski.

Stanislava Husakova from Vitebsk will have to spend another day in a temporary detention facility, where she has already spent two days. Husakova says she will appeal against the court decision and seek to return the seized flag.

It should be reminded that a traditional picket to pay tribute to the memory of Viktar and Kastus Kalinouskis was held near the town of Svislach on October 27. The event gathered more than 30 people. Police detained four activists – Ales Krot, Stanislava Husakova, Vitold Ashurak and Vital Lopasau. The latter was set free (because he has a minor son with him). The rest detainees were left in the local detention facility for the weekend. Policemen drew up reports for taking part in an “unsanctioned event” and using “unregistered symbols”.
