Under trial for cubes: riot police’s testimonies contradict videotapes

Today a trial is being held of the participants of the Going Public art project.
Uladzislau Lukiyanchuk and Aleg Davydchyk were put to trial already on 22 October. They were accused of insubordination to police. However, the judge Tatsiana Tkachova decided to merge their cases with the case of the artist Mikhail Gulin, Radio Svaboda informs.
Two riot police members, who testified in the court today, and based on whose report the artist and three volunteers were accused of insubordination to police, claimed that the accused maintained resistance to them, refused to go into the bus and show documents. That is why, according to the riot police members, they had to grab the accused and lead them into the bus.
The judge showed the video of the security cameras, where it was obvious that the accused were walking on their own, holding big cubes in their hands, whereas the riot police people were moving in a distance. The riot police members Aliaksandr Varankovich and Dzianis Gushcha could not explain in in the court why their report contradicted the videotape.
