Polish historian no allowed to Belarus

A historian and a chairman of the Belarusian association Khatka in Gdansk Dr Elena Glagovska was denied a Belarusian visa.

That is why she will not be able to take part in the international conference, organized by the Belarusian School Association on the topic “The People of old Grodna”. In the consulate in Bialystok they did not give the reasons for the refusal and advised to write to the Ministry of Foreign Affaris, Radio Racyja reports.

“Usually I work as a research assistant in a university, I practice science, but not politics. Although I could do politics as I am a political scientist by education. I do not understand why I was denied and I would like to know the reason”, - she said.

Elena Glagovska intends to write a request personally to the Minister of Foreign Affairs Uladzimir Makei. According to her it is even doubly annoying since apart from taking part in the conference she wanted to visit the graves of her close relatives on the Belarusian side of the border for the All Saints’ Day.
