Feast in the time of famine

Following the head of the Elsk district executive committee the Security Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs wants to buy a saloon for 695 mln rubles.

For operational purposes the Department found it necessary to have a car with a decorative trimming of the front panel with the root of a walnut tree, TUT.by reports.

According to the information of the “Purchases and tenders” section on the National Center for Marketing and Conjuncture of Prices ‘ web-site, apart from the decorative elements on the central panel, central console and the doors, the new police car should also have:

- color: black brilliant;

- engine type: petrol, six cylinder, four-cycle, 16-valve with the volume of 3 liters, power no less than 228/310 kW/h.p.;

- bi-xenon headlights with LED day light lamps with a washer;

- black leather seats;

- light alloy wheels 8Jх18 with five-spoke design etc.

Estimated cost of the purchase: 695 mln rubbles, VAT included.

Passion for expensive cars is not rare with Belarusian officials. Recently the Elsk district executive committee of Gomel region announced a tender for purchasing a car. The officials wanted no less than a luxurious representative off-road Volkswagen Touareg with 204 horse power. Such a “necessary” purchase was meant to be paid for from the local budget funds.
