Dictator was surprised by Mikhail Saakashvili, who had conceded defeat of his party in parliamentary elections.
Aliaksandr Lukashenka noted in an interview with international TV channel Mir that he was impressed by Mikheil Saakashvili admitting that his party lost the parliamentary elections in Georgia.
He told reporters he “did not expect anything of the kind from Saakashvili.”
“He literally overcame himself,” Lukashenka added.
“I want to say he is a great man. To admit you’ve lost while you are sure you’ll be supported by everyone until the final moment — it is worth a lot,” Lukashenka concluded. Belarusian President also highlighted that such a step had been deeply appreciated by all foreign observers, including Russia.
