More than 300 signatures for fired associate professor

As many as 300 people signed the open letter to support Andrei Charnyakevich, a fired associate professor of the University of Hrodna.
His colleagues historians, journalists, former and present-day students of Andrei Charnyakevich and public figures put their signatures, Nasha Niva newspaper reports.
The letter was signed by citizens of Belarus, Poland, Lithuania, Russia, the Czech Republic, Ukraine, the USA, Canada, South Africa, Germany and the UK.
A formal reason for dismissal of Andrei Charnyakevich was a work rules violation, but the actual reason is his book about the history of Hrodna presenting a non-Soviet view of the history of the town.
