Police: No one beat the photographer Grits (Photos)

The journalist beaten by police on 18 September was rejected to have a suit filed on that matter.

Siarhei Grits received a response form the Frunze district’s police department which stated that in 18 September during a rally  the participants of the rally were detained and seven more people who had cameras with them, Nasha Niva reports.

The document states that police only applied physical force to the participants of the rally:

“The undertaken investigation couldn’t find out the circumstances of the Grits’ injury as no one of the police didn’t use physical force and special means against him”.

Apart from that the letter says that it was not possible to find out the circumstances of the photos of the Associated Press photographer’s being deleted from his camera as “the police didn’t take it from him”.

We would remind that on 18 September near the Frunzenski department store during a rally held by the organization Zmena the cameraman Aliaksandr Barazenka, press photographers Siarhei Grits (Associated Press), Vasili Fedaseyanka (Reuters), Tatiana Ziankovich (EPA) and Pavel Padabed (BelaPAN) as well as civic activists were detained. During the rally the activists were going to arrange a symbolic distribution  of borscht.
