Vital Rymasheuski: Vitesbk blast is used as crackdown on opposition

Using terrorist attacks to tighten the screws on the opposition casts doubts on non-involvement of the authorities in blasts, a politician thinks.

We will understand what really happened in Vitesbk after the first reaction of the authorities. The authorities usually try to use such terrorist attacks to suppress activity of the opposition and apply pressure on the Belarusian democratic forces, Vital Rymasheuski, the co-head of the Belarusian Christian Democracy party, said in an interview with charter97.org.

The politician thinks the reaction of the authorities to terrorist attacks in Belarus cast doubts on their non-involvement in explosions:

We need to wait for a reaction to the blast. In principle, using terrorist attacks to tighten the screws in Belarus the authorities give grounds to suspect they might be involved in the events.

As for the blast in Vitebsk, it might be connected to the reshuffle in the KGB. We need to see the developments and a reaction of the authorities to suppose who won from the blast and why it was organized.

The people, who are reported by the KGB to have been detained, may have no relation to the incident, the BCD co-head thinks:

I think the detention of three persons in Vitebsk means nothing. As the story with the 'teddy bear bombing' showed, absolutely innocent people can be detained to demonstrate the effective work of our so called law-enforcement forces.

It should be reminded that the explosion occurred near the KGB building in Vitebsk on the night from November 11 to November 12. Three persons are reported to have been detained in connection with the incident. One of them has external signs of deviation from normal behaviour. A criminal case over hooliganism has been opened.
