Lithuanian MFA expresses protest to Drazhyn

The Lithuanian MFA summoned Ambassador of Belarus Uladzimir Drazhyn  to protest against the attempted attack on the Lithuanian Embassy in Minsk.

“A request to thoroughly investigate the incident, cooperate with and provide information about the investigation to competent Lithuanian institutions and to ensure the security of the Lithuanian Embassy in Minsk was handed to the Ambassador,” Interfax news agency quotes the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to the MFA, Drazhyn said that Belarus regretted the incident. “He noted that the investigation of malignant hooliganism received a lot of attention. The Ambassador assured that competent Belarusian institutions would expeditiously inform their Lithuanian colleagues about the investigation of this incident,” the Lithuanian MFA reports.

Two bottles with flammable liquid were thrown to the Embassy of Lithuania in Minsk on Tuesday. Two Lithuanian police officers from the embassy put out the flame. The Partyzanski district department of the Investigation Committee opened a criminal case over the incident (part 2 of article 339 of the Criminal Code – hooliganism). Embassy's CCTV cameras didn't allow to identify the offenders.
