Raid on Shklou paper mill

Officers of the Economic Crime Department and Financial Investigation Department are seizing documents.

As a worker said to charter97.org website, the raid started this morning. Officers of company's top managers were searched.

The reason for the raid is that the company took a big loan for modernisation three years ago, but the money was used for purposes other than intended. Old used equipment was bought instead of new machinery. The equipment was marked as new in documents.

Workers say the loan was granted and spent with the connivance of the high-ranking officials of the Mahilou region.  

The Shlou Paper Mill is among the key enterprises in the district.
