Grybauskaitė  ignored the Belarusian dictator?

The deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Alena Kupchyna met the chargé d'affaires ad interim of Lithuania Jonas Daniliauskas in Minsk on 27 December.

As they told in the press-service of the Foreign Ministry to the camarade.biz web-site, the parties discussed some issues, including concrete steps for development of the bilateral dialogue and cooperation in different spheres, considering the upcoming presidency of Lithuania in the Euroean Union in 2013.

Jonas Daniliauskas passed the message from the head of the Lithuanian MFA Linas Linkiavichus to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Uladzimir Makei on the 20-anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between Belarus and Lithuania. Apart from that he passed personal messages on behalf of the Prime Minister of Lithuania Algirdas Butkiavichus and former head of the Lithuanian government Andrus Kubilius to Prime Minister Mikhail Miasnikovich.

It is worth noting that nothing is mentioned about a message of the Lithuania’s president Dalia Grybauskaitė to her Belarusian colleague Aliaksandr Lukashenka.

In the congratulation letter to his Belarusian colleague Uladzimir Makei the head of the Lithuania’s MFA Linas Linkiavichus stated that Belarus and Lithuania will promote their bilateral relations “in the spirit of neighbourliness, mutual trust and cooperation”.

According to the minister, the instrument of the European Union’s initiative Eastern Partnership “will be useful on that road”.

He also called for Minsk to “use all the possibilities to ease the travels of the Belarusians”.
