Pressure on Granit workers increases every day

At the Granit enterprise the prosecution of the activists of an independent trade union continues.

Now it is the matter of a excavator driver Leanid Dubanosau, whom the administration of the Mikashevichy based enterprise demands to decide as soon as possible whether he will or will not keep paying membership dues to that trade union via the Granit’s accounting department, the human rights center Viasna reports.

Representatives of the administration promised to find grounds for abrogation of the contract with Dubanosau, in case he does not refuse the membership in the independent trade union.

It is worth mentioning that Leanid has been working for Granit enterprise for more than ten years already and has never had any complaints about him on the part of the administration. And now there are complaints almost on a daily basis. Dubanosau directly relates this to his participation in the local organization of the Belarusian Independent Trade Union.

We would remind that at the end of 2011 six hundred workers quitted the official trade union operation at the enterprise and claimed that they were going to create a unit of the BITU. After that pressure increased on the on the part of the administration and the leaders of the independent trade union were fired.
