Tatsiana Revyaka was interrogated for an article about lawlessness KGB

This afternoon, the human rights activist was summoned to the KGB.

At half past ten in the morning of August 17, member of the Board of the human rights center "Vesna" Tatsiana Revyaka received a call from a KGB officer who suggested her to drive up to them to talk. Human rights activist demanded to send her an official subpoena. At 11:10 a KGB officer, captain Aliaksandr Rubinau handed Tatsiana Revyaka a subpoena for 12 o'clock in which was indicated the reason of the call: "as a person knowledgeable about the circumstances relevant to the national security of the Republic of Belarus". The human rights activist told to charter97.org, what happened during the interrogation.

"The KGB interrogated me about the publication on the website "Viasna" called "in Mogilev KGB interferes with the electoral process". A printout from the website charter97.org  was also shown to me with the same reprinted information under the heading "Mogilev KGB terrorizes collectors of signatures", - said Tatsiana Revyaka.

The human rights activist confirmed the KGB, that she was the person who posted the information on the website of the HRC "Viasna".

"Then I was asked if I contacted the local branch of the KGB in order to confirm the information, posted in the article. I expressed doubt that if I would go to the KGB, it is unlikely I would have received information about the case", - shared her thoughts Tatsiana Revyaka.

"The KGB also asked a question, if I was realizing  that if the published information is not confirmed, then this article will discredit the state security of Belarus. To this I said - whether there is a question of bringing me to justice? They said, there isn't", - said she.

"All of this suggests about a great attention of the KGB to the electoral campaign and the activities of human rights defenders", - said the human rights activist.

Recall, the publication, which became the reason of interrogation of the  human rights activist, tells that a KGB officer in Mogilev broke into the apartment of a collector of signatures Uladislau Yaroshau and tried to learn about how much he receives for the collection of signatures, who manages the process and organize it. He threatened Uladislau Yaroshau, who is a student of the Mogilev State University of Arkady Kuliashou, to expel him from the university for his work in the team of an opposition candidate and proposed him to cooperate with the KGB.
