Picketers near the Belarusian embassy in Bishkek again demand to extradite the Bakiyev brothers.
Protesters want to hand in an official appeal to the Belarusian ambassador to Kyrgyzstan. They insist the Belarusian authorities should fulfill provisions of the Minsk Convention and extradite ex-president Kurmanbek Bakiyev, his brother and associates to Kyrgyzstan, 24kg.net reports.
About 50 people gathered in front of the embassy building in the morning. The number of protesters continues to grow. They hold posters “Zhanysh Bakiyev is killer and hangman”, “Belarusian embassy, get out from Kyrgyzstan”, “Evacuation or extradition”, “Belarus is shelter for killers”, etc.
We remind the Belarusian Prosecutor General's Office refused to extradite Zhanybek Bakiyev, charged with criminal offences in his homeland. to Kyrgyzstan. The Belarusian authorities say Kyrgyz ex-president's brother is prosecuted on political motives.
Rallies in front of the Belarusian embassy in Bishkek have been held since the middle of August. The latest picket was held on September 7 under the motto “Evacuation or extradition”.
