The delegation of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly met with political prisoners

The delegation of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly has completed its program in Minsk with a visit Irina Khalip.
The members of the OSCE PA delegation visited the convicted journalist in the evening of September 11. The delegation was led by the chairman of the OSCE PA Riccardo Migliori and the head of the observer mission Matteo Mecacci.
The representatives of the OSCE, as it turned out, are well aware of all restrictions against the wife of presidential candidate Andrej Sannikau, including the prohibition to go out after 22 hours from home. Thus, there was one option - to come to her house before the "curfew".
- Maybe it was even better than the official meeting somewhere in the negotiating rooms, - said Irina Khalip to the website charter97.org. - Because the format of a friendly meeting suggests more candid conversations, unrelated to protocol requirements. At least, not one has to speak in form of euphemisms. I have expressed my own position, which, as it turned out, has much in common with the position of my guests - about those of the opposition, who either participate or do not participate, that they are a kind of involved, but only a little, and generally they are not candidates: for some reason they call themselves speakers. And someone is going to withdraw his candidacy on September 15 and is very proud of his own ingenious combination (that ultimately gives a zero result). As, by the way, all those pointless gestures of those who "is involved, but not quite". MPs are absolutely agree with this, and compared those who not quite wants to be in "the House of Representatives" with "slightly virgins". It is a precise definition. Now, looking, for example, at Grisha Kastuseu, I see clearly that he is a typical "slightly virgin." Like other participators of this entire joke that sort wooden pawns with such importance, if they have the box with diamond necklaces.
Of course, we also discussed the sanctions. I asked what would be the prospects of Poland under martial law, if Europe would only issuing resolutions which condemn the criminal acts of Jaruzelski. In response to this the Chair of the OSCE PA Riccardo Migliori lamented that at that time of at least two states were led by real moral leaders, whose word was authoritative for the whole of Europe - for example, Francois Mitterrand and Helmut Kohl. Now, there are no leaders in Europe. And the U.S. President at that time was Ronald Reagan, so it was much easier to fight against Eastern dictatorships. I agree that in today's Europe there are no more moral leaders, but I don’t think that this passivity of European structures and their full willingness to step on a rake can help us: those elections were illegitimate, we do not recognize them, but let's wait for the next. The next elections ended with mass arrests – it’s okay, there will also be some elections, and we will observe it. Italian Deputies have agreed that we cannot discard events of the past, start each time from scratch: maybe tomorrow we will get lucky and everything will be comme il faut.
