The independent trade union of Granit plant expressed its solidarity with demands of medical workers of city hospital No. 2 in Minsk.
Members of the independent trade union sent an open letter to healthcare minister Vasily Zharko, Radio Svaboda reports.
The letter reads:
“Healthcare officials live in luxury, but they forgot about those working hard and saving health and lives of people. Some say physicians want too high salaries. But let’s compare demands of medical workers and incomes of governmental officials comprising of different kinds of allowances and monthly bonuses that sometimes reach 100%.
Our taxes should be spent on healthcare development, not on flourishing of officials and their clans. Belarusian medical workers should have dignified wages allowing them to live a normal life and have respect in society.
We appeal to work collectives of Belarus proposing to support the demands of the staff of Minsk hospital No. 2. Real professionals, not rightless slaves ready to work for miserable pay, should treat our people.”
On September 7, about 30 medical workers of Minsk city hospital No. 2 promised to resign after September 30 if their pay is not increased.
