Hunting journalists goes on

Independent television journalists Vyachaslau Pyashko and Valyantin Mikhaltsou were detained near Kalinin Square in Minsk at 5 p.m.

The journalists (one of them, Vyachaslau Pyashko, is a BAJ member) were filming in the street when policemen arrived and detained them, the press service of the Belarusian Association of Journalists (BAJ) reports.

Vyachaslau Pyashko and Valyantin Mikhaltsou were taken to a police station on Kuzma Chorny Street for identification.

We remind that activists of Zmena youth organization were going to hold a picket near Frunzenski supermarket in Minsk calling to boycott the “election”.

The activists organized symbolic serving of borscht alluding to Yarmoshyna's notorious remark.

Zmena activists Pavel Vinahradau, Alyaksandr Artsybashau, photo correspondents for the Associated Press and Reuters Syarhei Hryts and Vasily Fedasenka, journalists Tatyana Zyankevich, Pavel Padabed, cameramen Alyaksandr Barazenka and Dzmitry Rudakou, film producer Alyaksei Akulau and a film crew of German ZDF television.

Some journalists were injured. Associated Press photo correspondent Syarhei Hryts got his glasses broken.
