Soldiers forced to vote early (Photo)

Queues of soldiers wanting to vote early can be noticed in the military unit in Machulishchy.

Belorusski Partizan took photos of soldiers who came to the second and third ballot stations in Machulishchy to vote on September 19 as if they planned to go to the countryside on September 23.

A parliamentary candidate in Minsk rural constituency No. 76, Illya Dabratvor, decided to check the situation in the town of Machulishchy (the Minsk district) on September 19. It was the day of a visit of chairman of the Minsk region executive committee Barys Batura to the town.

The candidate went to ballot stations No. 53 and 55 located in a school building 100 metres from the military unit. Queues of soldiers were noticed on both ballot stations at 10: 15 a.m. About 30 soldiers voted during 15 minutes. As of 6 p.m. On September 18, 72 people already voted on two polling stations.

Two army officers were heard talking: “Do they order to officers and even their wives to vote in your military unit?”

The situation on ballot station No. 54, where army officers vote,  was more difficult: only 46 people cast their ballots on the first day of early voting. The election commission will have to organize a “wide-scale early voting” on the day before the voting day.

A s a comparison, from 13 to 17 people voted on the first day at polling stations in Kalidzishchy and Baraulyany.

The election commission printed and distributed posters with information about the parliamentary candidates (Illya Dabratvor and acting MP Hanna Lyavitskaya), which do not have imprints. Illya Dabratvor thinks the “constituency election commission violated the Law on Mass Media, under which all printed materials must contain imprints relating to a place of printing, printing run and the order number”.

“I informed chairs of the district election commissions about the violation and asked them to report about the fact to the constituency commission. I will file a complaint to the Central Election Commission and the constituency commission if violations continue. I will demand to remove the leaflets that violates the legislation,” Illya Dabratvor said.
