According to the final calculations of the observation results made by the Belarusian Christian Democrats, which were accredited on several polling stations, the average turnout was 44,7%. Moreover, in Minsk it was even lower – 39,4%.
The growth of the final numbers relative to the interim ones, announce by BChD yesterday’s evening, is explained by processing of the data from all the observers as well as the fact that by the time of the vote counting the results of the home voting were unknown as it went in secret from the observers.
It’s worth mentioning, that in Minsk the authorities were not that impudent and didn’t have such opportunities as in the regions to massively force people to vote and collect signatures door-to-door. For example, in Orsha at the polling station 51 of the 27th constituency718 people participated in the voting 448 out of them voted at home, which undoubtedly causes huge suspicions as to the true character of the results of the home voting, the BChD’s press-service informs.
Thus, in general the elections were not successful all over the country. Additionally, the fact that almost 18% of the voters, according to independent observers, were forced to vote early, and would not likely have participated in the elections otherwise.
