This year they will start confiscating car from drunk drivers

The practice of car confiscation from people driving drunk will be introduced in 2013.

The Prosecutor General of Belarus Aliaksandr Kaniuk told BelTA about that.

The complicated procedure of the draft law preparation is finalized; the bill has been submitted to Lukashenka for consideration. After that it will be introduced for consideration by the parliament members, the Prosecutor General explained.

The prosecutors office insists that a vehicle must be confiscated from a person as soon as the fact of the alcoholic inebriation of the driver is proven. It also stands for toughening the responsibility for the loss of life in accidents. However, the implementation of the suggestions will be dependent on the lawmakers, - the Prosecutor General emphasized.

As reported earlier, the Belarusian Prosecutor Generals office together with the Ministry of Justice has prepared a draft law, which suggests confiscating vehicles from drunk drivers exclusively in the framework of criminal responsibility.
