A political prisoner is being persuaded to apply for a pardon.
The politician wrote it in a letter to his wife.
The authorities of the Mahilou prison proposed the political prisoner tofile a pardon application after six month of silence, the website statkevich.org reports.
Maryna Adamovich, the wife of the political prisoner, says the proposal sounded cynical. According to Statkevich, he was told: “Stop playing silly games, go out of prison and travel to the sea.”
Maryna Adamovich says that the refusal to accept the proposal is usually followed by pressure and provocations. The political prisoner can be transferred to a punishment cell on far-fetched grounds or other unfair sanctions may be imposed on him. Adamovich says the news causes alarm. “Mikalai writes he doesn't know what they will do this time, but he expects everything,” Mikalai Statkevich's wife says.
