Presentation of “Byalyatski's Case”, a novel-reportage by journalist Valer Kalinouski, was held in U Gallery in Minsk on January 17.

The documentary novel devoted to Ales Byalyatski and his human rights activity was published in 2012. It became the 38th book in the Liberty Library series, a project launched by Alyaksandr Lukashuk, the director of RFE/RL's Belarus Service.

Human rights activist's colleagues Tatyana Ravyaka, Valyantin Stefanovich and Harry Pahanyaila, singer-songwriter Eduard Akulin, writers and philosophers Valyantin Akudovich and Uladzimir Arlou, politicians Alyaksandr Kazulin and Alyaksandr Milinkevich attended the event to say warm words about Byalyatski. Charge d'Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Minsk Ethan Goldrich also visited the presentation.

Akulin sang his new song “Uzydu” dedicated to the human rights activist. Writer Arlou presented the political prisoner his new book “White Mouse Medal” through Byalyatski's wife. “I hope he will receive real medals when he is released,” the writer said.

Participants of the presentation watched footage mostly showing the arrest and the trial over the human rights activist and heard extracts from Kalinouski's novel.
