A deputy commanding officer of the battalion in the security department in Orsha shot himself dead while on duty on January 21.
Lieutenant colonel Mikhalik shot himself with his service pistol, charter97.org learnt from a source.
The building of the security department was cordoned off by the police after the incident.
The killing may have relation to a criminal case against Alyaksandr Halyatski, a former deputy commander of the unit.
A similar case recently happened in Minsk's Frunzenski district police department. A police officer, who was on duty, shot himself in the head with his service Makarov pistol and died immediately.
