Investigation Committee: There are no suspects in the attack on the embassy of Lithuania

Belarusian investigators have not found the suspects in a criminal case on the fact of attack the Lithuanian embassy in Minsk.

Lithuania has not yet handed over the CCTV footage of the incident with Molotov cocktails thrown at its Minsk Embassy to the Belarusian law enforcement, the Chairman of the Investigation Committee of Belarus Valentin Shayev said in an interview with the SB-Belarus Today newspaper, BelTA has learnt. 

“With regard to the difficulties, the Belarusian side has not yet received the CCTV footage of the Embassy. We have to understand that this is not a simple diplomatic procedure. Therefore, a letter of request for legal assistance has been sent through the Prosecutor General's Office to the competent justice bodies of Lithuania. We hope our request will be granted. Then the investigators will begin examining these videos,” Valentin Shayev said. 

"There are no suspects yet. The investigation is ongoing,” he noted.

As reported, two Molotov cocktails were thrown at the Lithuanian Embassy on 6 November 2012 at around 22h45. There was a small fire that was extinguished. A criminal case was opened under Article 339-2 of the Criminal Code.
