A press release of September 16 informed about the children who were born on the town's anniversary with participation of deputy head of the Minsk city executive committee Ihar Karpenka.

The press released was supposed to be sent only to the newspapers founded by the Minsk city executive committee, but it also appeared in the independent press causing many jokes.

It was decided after an internal inquiry that the woman, who allegedly sent it to independent journalists must be punished. The journalist was fired from Minsk-Novosti agency on October 1. The author of the press release wasn't punished.

The official reason for the dismissal is failure to perform requirements of a trial period.

The Minsk city executive committee admitted its fault in a conversation with the press service of the Belarusian Association of Journalists (BAJ), but refused to defend the dismissed journalist referring to independence of Minsk-Novosti agency.
