Myasnikovich to visit Saint Petersburg

A Belarus government delegation led by Prime Minister Mikhail Myasnikovich is expected to visit Saint Petersburg on 1-2 October.

Mikhail Myasnikovich is expected to meet with Saint Petersburg Governor Georgy Poltavchenko. The state and prospects of Belarus-Saint Petersburg cooperation will be discussed as well as ways to diversify and raise Belarusian export, matters concerning the development of manufacturing cooperation ties.

During the visit the sixth session of the Belarus-Saint Petersburg Business Cooperation Council will be held. Participants of the session will discuss the progress in fulfilling the program for trade, economic, scientific, technical, and humanitarian cooperation between the Belarus government and the Saint Petersburg government in 2012-2016.

Among other things the session will table the implementation of joint projects in the area of manufacturing cooperation, organization of deliveries of Belarusian passenger, municipal, and road construction vehicles, lift equipment to Saint Petersburg as well as cooperation in food, civil engineering, and research areas.

In January-July 2013 Belarus-Saint Petersburg trade turnover totaled $1.043.3 million, 12.4% up from January-July 2012. Belarus’ export totaled $678.9 million (7.9% up), with import at $364.4 million (22% up) and foreign trade surplus at $314.5 million.

In January-July 2013 Belarus’ basic exports to Saint Petersburg were fresh and cooled beef, non-alloy steel rods, oil products, milk and cream, cheese and curds, furniture, and trucks.
