Restrictions lifted from Yaromenak

Restrictions lifted from Yaromenak

The preventive supervision over former political prisoner Uladzimir Yaromenak ended, the court ruled.

The activist remains on a police watchlist.

Uladzimir Yaromenak learnt the news from the corrections department at the Pershamaiski police station in Minsk:

“An inspector called me and asked to visit the corrections department. He handed in a notice saying that the preventive supervision over me ended. I remain on a police watchlist. I have been there since my release from jail. I have no restrictions regarding staying at home, I can leave the town and go abroad. But I must warn the inspector if I want to leave the town for a month or more,” the activist told Radio Racyja.

The court of the Pershamaiski district sentenced Uladzimir Yaromenak in August to 3 months in custody for violating the rules of preventive supervision. The activist appealed against the court decision, but the city court hasn't set the hearing date yet.
