Polish Embassy: Ministers Sikorski and Bildt don't plan visit to Minsk

The foreign ministers of Poland and Sweden will not visit the Belarusian capital ahead of the Eastern Partnership Summit in spite of earlier reports.

Many Belarusian media published yesterday morning the article “Making Europe Whole” by Polish foreign minister Radoslaw Sikorski and Swedish foreign minister Carl Bildt. The article was devoted to the fifth anniversary of the Eastern Partnership programme.

Among others, the article contains the following phrase: “Now — five years later and in the run-up to the third Eastern Partnership Summit in Vilnius — we will embark on a joint trip that will take us and other high-level Swedish and Polish representatives to all the Eastern Partnership capitals: to Chisinau, Kyiv, Tbilisi, Baku, Yerevan and Minsk.”

“It's a mistake. They don't plan a visit to Minsk,” Nasha Niva learnt from the Embassy of Poland.

We remind that the Eastern Partnership Summit is due to be held in Vilnius on November 28-29. It remains unclear who will represent official Minsk at the summit.
