Cyclists with white-red-white flags in Minsk centre

17

Zmena activists on bicycles rode along Surhanau Street with national flags that are currently forbidden in Belarus.

They decided to support Pavel Vinahradau, who was placed into a detention centre in Minsk, Nasha Niva newspaper reports. He was sentenced to 15 days in custody some days ago for a performance in Yakub Kolas Square.

He placed pig heads on benches with placards demanding to free political prisoners, raise salaries for health care workers, not to impose an exit duty, etc. Vinahradau was taken to the Maskouski district police station and then to the Savetski district, where the performance was held.

Pavel's father, who was near by accident, was also detained, Svetlana Vinahradava says.

The decision to send Pavel Vinahradau to the detention centre was taken by judge Kiryl Palulekh on September 27.
