Mirnyi/Tecau through to China Open semifinal

Belarus’ Max Mirnyi and Romania’s Horia Tecau have earned the second victory at the China Open which prize pot is $5.185 million.
In the 3 October quarterfinal the Belarusian-Romanian duo ousted the British duo of Colin Fleming and Jonathan Marray 6:4, 7:6 (7:3).
In the first round Max Mirnyi and Horia Tecau overpowered another international duo of Julien Benneteau (France) and Nenad Zimonjic (Serbia), seeded fourth, 6:3, 6:4.
Max Mirnyi and Horia Tecau will now face Serbia’s Novak Djokovic and Switzerland’s Stanislas Wawrinka.
Two other Belarus’ representatives had earlier left the China Open. World No. 2 Victoria Azarenka lost to Germany’s Andrea Petkovic (WTA No.43) on 30 September 4:6, 6:2, 4:6. Olga Govortsova, paired with Poland’s Alicja Rosolska, lost to U.S. duo Raquel Kops-Jones and Abigail Spears (sixth seeds) 1:6, 1:6 in the women’s doubles first-round match.
The competition in China will conclude on 6 October.
