Belarusian startup wins Yandex contest

The Belarusian startup project Mediant is the winner of the final part of the contest Yandex.Start arranged by the Russian Internet giant Yandex.

The project Mediant is the winner of the startup contest. Mediant creates mobile applications for learning in simple ways. Yandex has presented tickets for the technology conference TechCrunch Disrupt Europe 2013 in Berlin to the startup’s founders — Anton Shaleinikov and Dmitry Budko.

BelTA has been told that the Yandex.Start contest offers young teams an opportunity to highlight their projects before Yandex managers. This year the contest has been held in Belarus for the first time in its history. About 30 startups lined up for the contest: projects at the stage of ideas, projects as prototypes and even functioning businesses. After two rounds of voting and long discussions the experts named the most interesting projects for the final part.

Choosing the winner, the judges evaluated the novelty of the idea, the topicality of the tasks it tries to address, the technological level of the project, the experience and cohesiveness of the team, and the quality of their presentation.

TrackDuck, a system to enable visual feedback in web development, came second. The cloud computing service Caspowa, which accelerates website loading, came third.
