TV Rain: Crazy Lukashenka is uncontrollable (Video)

The dictator dreams of Russian functionaries being put in Belarusian prisons.

Putin, of course, look at his Belarusian colleague with envy. It is much more comfortable without a head than with two at once. Lukashenka is uncontrollable and in certain sense fearless, TV Rain reports in a news piece “How not to become a Lukashenka? Why Greenpeace activists started getting released”.

Several years ago nothing stopped him from brining criminal charges against a major Russian businessman Semen Vainshtok. Now nothing kept him from arresting Vladislav Baumgertner. What is the whole delegation came? Aleksandr Voloshin, Arkadiy Dvorkovich, Suleiman Kerimov. It is not ruled out that Lukashenka dreamt of such cover stories in world’s media. In order to solve the issue with Uralkali Russia’s Prosecutor General Yury Chayka himself secretly went to Belarus. He was supposed to translate the case from the Belarusian language into Russian. This means to buy the case out from the Belarusians. People, familiar with the case say that Chayka reached an agreement on everything. But something went wrong. Lukashenka started with the second round of dances with the Russian elite.

It is very tempting to become a Lukashenka. The law enforcement group calls for that and the resentful clergy group. But in order to be a Lukashenka, one should want to be one. To admit that the world is not your friend, and you are a lonely wolf. Russian elite, including Vladimir Putin does not want to be a lonely pariah. One may sail Russian river as much as one likes, but Swiss business and real estate is still there. It is not the Belarusian ruler to whom Russia’s president has sympathy, but the former Prime Minster of Italy, the monopoly owner of the local media, football and singer.

One wants to show power in this world, not lunacy. Having sentenced Pusyy Riot to two years and made concessions to the Russian Orthodox Church, Putin learnt very well that the prison term for the punk band meant a drop for his rating. Ties are ties, but church’s voice is now much quieter than before.

Putin does not forgive the Magnitsky list, but does not even put Navalny in jail, like he does with street protesters. He will not show the world that Khodorkovsky may have a successor.

The Greenpeace case is way too Russian and way too international. Oil as the basis of Russian statehood. But the participants of the case are international. The quarrel would be with the whole antifascist coalition altogether. Who only is not there.

Putin is not ready to give up, but he is not ready to start the roller with no need either. In Sochi he needs to come to the stage and make a speech to be translated in all the world’s languages. Russian is not enough here. But Belarusian would be too much.
