House arrest for Vladislav Baumgertner in Russia

Vladislav Baumgertner is now under house arrest, mass media have quoted Sergei Tsygankov, a representative of the Moscow office of the Federal Penal Service, as saying.

On 10 December the Basmanny court of Moscow changed the pretrial restriction of Vladislav Baumgertner to house arrest till 20 January 2014.

In turn, Spokesman of the Investigation Committee of the Russian Federation Vladimir Markin said that the pretrial restriction had been changed upon the request of the investigation team. “The request was submitted taking into account Vladislav Baumgertner’s personality and the fact that earlier the Belarusian court chose house arrest, too, and also taking into account the fact that the measure is adequate to the offense,” said the official.

Vladislav Baumgertner will be monitored by the sentence execution service. A digital bracelet will be used to track his movement in the apartment.

Before that Vladislav Baumgertner was kept in pre-trial detention center No. 5 of Moscow.
