Stanislau Shushkevich presents book in Minsk

23

The presentation attracted many people even without advertising.

The event took place at the BPF party headquarters on December 11. Stanislau Shushkevich presented the Belarusian version of his book “My Life, the Collapse and Revival of the USSR”. The Russian version was presented to public a year ago. The first head of independent Belarus gave an interview to charter97.org and spoke about his book a year ago.

The event wasn't advertised, but the presentation attracted many people. Stanislau Shushkevich spoke about the idea to write the book, the working process and the creation of the Belarusian version. Unlike many famous people, who employ professionals to write memoirs, Shushkevich created both versions, Russian and Belarusian ones, alone. He used the photos of his family he had taken in his youth. The author says it's not pure memoirs, but a mixture. The book contains small essays to photos, analytical articles and memories. The “glossary” contains more than 500 names of Belarusian politicians and public figures. The 500-page book has about 300 pictures.

The author couldn't publish his book in Belarus. It was printed by Russian ROSSPEN publishing house.

Stanislau Shushkevich answered questions and signed the books, but there were not enough books for all people who came.
