Dinamo Minsk blanked by Vityaz at home

Dinamo Minsk made Vityaz goalie Ivan Lisutin shine in their 0-2 home loss to Vityaz Moscow Region on 11 December.

The Belarusians had a myriad of chances throughout the game, but none of them was able to put the team on the board. The Bisons went 0-for-5 in the powerplay while the guests caught the luck to capitalize on the first man advantage they got in the game. Mike Iggulden needed less than a minute to open the score on the rebound.

Gleb Klimenko put in another one for Vityaz some 35 seconds before the second intermission. After that the guests focused on defense to hold the Bisons off in the final twenty minutes.

Several significant events have preceded the Belarusians' ongoing two-game home series. Lubomic Pokovic was confirmed by the club’s supervisory board as head coach. Lubomic Pokovic led Dinamo Minsk from June 2005 to January 2008 before the Kontinental Hockey League was formed. Under his tutelage the team won the Belarus Cup twice and was second at the Belarusian Ice Hockey Championship in the 2005-06 season. As for players, Canadian forward Eric Chouinard has been placed on waivers. Goalie Lars Haugen will miss at least four weeks after suffering a low-body injury in the game against Admiral Vladivostok on 9 December. Metallurg Zhlobin forward Nikita Osipov signed a contract with the club till the end of the season. Goaltender Kevin Lalande hit the ice in the game against Vityaz on 11 December after a 12-game hiatus.

With 36 points after 36 games Dinamo Minsk remains 14th in the West. The Belarusians next host Dynamo Moscow on 13 December.
