Author of films about MAZ sentenced to 1 year in jail

Ruslan Mirzoeu was tried on December 13.

The young man was charged with violating the rules of serving a non-custodial sentence. He was sentenced to a year's imprisonment. The author of the “series about MAZ” will serve the term in a correctional colony in Shklou.

Mirzoeu said to charter97.org the criminal prosecution was caused by his films.

“No one told me directly it had relation to my films. But everything was okay before I had made the films. Problems appeared after I had served 7 days in a detention facility. I received so many sanctions during a month that a criminal case was opened. I have the impression they treat me in a biased manner. My friends have the same sentence. They violated the rules 17-20 times, but they weren't sent to jail. I have only 5 violations and get a prison term,” he said.

Ruslan Mirzoeu, who was given a non-custodial sentence, was fired from MAZ plant for a “series” about the plant's workers. He later was sentenced to 7 days in custody for his new video “Chronicles of the District”. A criminal case was opened against him for violating the rules of serving a non-custodial sentence.
