Belavia opened a Minsk-Vilnius flight

Minsk-Vilnius flight named final stage in Belarus-Lithuania cooperation in 2013.

The opening of a regular flight Minsk-Vilnius by the national air carrier Belavia made the final stage of close cooperation between Belarus and Lithuania in 2013, BelTA learnt from Deputy Foreign Minister of Belarus Elena Kupchina.

“The opening of a new flight that has connected the capitals of the two countries is a significant event that can be considered as the final stage of the constructive cooperation between Belarus and Lithuania in 2013,” Elena Kupchina said.

On the whole, the year 2013 was fruitful for both the countries which showed themselves actively in the international arena. Lithuania took over the chairmanship in the Council of the European Union in July. Belarus presided in the Commonwealth of Independent States in 2013. Among the most important events of the outgoing year are also the Eastern Partnership summit in Vilnius and the CIS Head of State Council summit in Minsk in October 2013.

Elena Kupchina believes that the direct flights between Minsk and Vilnius will promote diplomatic and cultural relations between the two states and leave a positive impact on the development of trade and economic cooperation, tourism.

Until now there was no air service between the Belarusian and Lithuanian capitals. Starting from 19 Dceember Belavia will fly to Vilnius eight times per week on a CRJ aircraft. The flight will last about 40 minutes. A two-way ticket in economy class will cost €62, including airport taxes and fees.

The national air carrier Belavia operates regular flights to 43 destinations in Europe, CIS and Asia.
