Ales Makayeu sentenced to 5 days in custody

Minsk's Maskouski district court sentenced an opposition activists to 5 days in custody.

Judge Tatsiana Matyl, who is subject to the EU restrictive measures, found the activist guilty of violating part 3 of article 23.34 of the Code of Administrative Offences (organising an unsanctioned event for the second time during the year) and sentenced him to detention.

The news was received from Illa Dabratvor, who was a witness at the trial, Belorusski Partizan reports.

On November 24, democratic activists marked the 93d anniversary of the opening of hostilities between the Slutsk regiments and the Red Army.

Representatives of the civil campaign European Belarus, the BPF Party, the Conservative Christian Party BPF, the For Freedom movement, Young Front, the For Freedom group and the solidarity movement Razam arrived in Slutsk.

They stopped in the village of Hrozava to lay flowers. Police officers arrived when they were singing the hymn “God Almighty”. Two participants of the event, Ales Makayeu and Illia Dabratvor, were detained for “giving explanations”.

Police officers let the activists go after they had explained the event was permitted by the authorities.
