Priest Lazar: I am not guilty of anything

Uladzislau Lazar says masses in the Exaltation of the Holy Cross church in Vilejka.

The authorities still suspect him of being involved in espionage and kept him imprisoned for half a year in KGB jail. The priest is not allowed to speak of the details of his case. He told that to Nasha Niva journalists, who visited Vilejka.

“The investigation continues. I cannot tell anything about the case. They can take me back to jail. I will tell one thing: I am not guilty of anything”, - Uladzislau Lazar said.

The priest says that he received some newspapers, Arguments&Facts reached him, catholic newspapers. He thanked those, who reported on his case.

We would remind that the information of priest Uladzislau Lazar’s detention came out several days after Lukashenka’s speech on 26 July. The ruler then told journalists that an agent of Belarusian special services had been arrested for working for foreign states. Having spent 6 month in custody Uladzislau Lazar was released, but the case has not been dropped.
