Leanid Zaika: Not men. Did not deliver (Video)

A briefing took place on 3 December in Minsk on the situation in Belarusian economy.

According to the Belarusian statistics committee, in nine months of the current year Belarusian exports of goods reduced by 21.3% as compared to the same period of 2012. Why is that so?

Answering to this question for BelaPAN a well-known economist and analyst Leanid Zaika said:

“Let’s see, whether we need the Ministry of Economy. Their prediction for exports was 16% growth, while actually there was 20% loss. In the times of Stalin people were sentenced to ten years without the right for correspondence for such predictions. If the mistake in prediction is over 30%, then it is not a ministry, but a badly functioning institution.

If we explain like the Ministry of Economy does, then, of course, the market demand dropped, the question is – how much? By the way, president turned attention to this obviously non-satisfactory answer. I will quote it: ”Men, I am warning you – if you do not deliver what you take on yourselves, I will demand strictly”. It turned out they were no men. They did not deliver”.
