PM Miazhueu appointed Security Council Secretary

Lukashenka appointed Aliaksandr Miazhueu the State Secretary of the Security Council.

His press-service reports of the appointment. The ruler signed the respective decree on 5 December.

We would remind that in early November it came out that Lukashenka appointed Leanid Malcau, who was the previous State Secretary of the Security Council, the chairman of the State Border Control Committee. Up until today the position of the Security Council’s State Secretary remained vacant.

Aliaksandr Miazhueu is the chairman of the House of Representative’s permanent commission on national security. In late November Miazhueu was also appointed the chairman of the Belarusian Officers Union.

He was born in 1959 in Lakhavichy of Brest region. He graduated from Kiev’s higher general command military college, the Frunze Military Academy, Military Academy of the General Staff of Russia’s Armed Forces. He did command and staff service: as a brigade’s commander, head of staff – first deputy to the operational commander, commander of the operational troops, head of the Chief Military Inspection of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus. He is a member of the board of the Defense Ministry of the Republic of Belarus. He was elected to the House of Representatives from Hrodna’s constituency number 52.

Earlier experts assumed that Lukashenka’s elder son Viktar could take the position of the Security Council’s State Secretary. During Viktar Lukashenka’s visit to the UAE in mid-November he was even received as “the head of national security”. This is how Arab media reported of the event.
