Belarusian flag on Maydan Nezalezhnosti’s highest building

A white-red-white flag was raised during the performance by Lapis Trubetskoj.

It is now blowing about the square together with the flags of Ukraine and the European Union. The symbol, banned in Belarus, was hoisted above the building 13 in Khreshchatyk Street while Siarhiej Mikhalok was signing the song “Iron”. It is unknown who did that.

We would point out that despite the obstacles created by Belarusian and Ukrainian special services, dozens of our compatriots managed to get to Maydan Nezalezhnosti. Many white-red-white flags blew about the square.

The concert of Lapis went on for about 20 minutes and was accepted by the public with admiration. Thousands of people – Belarusians and Ukrainians alike – sang familiar songs. “Long live Belarus! Long live independent Ukraine!” – Mikhalok screamed when leaving the stage. In response dozens of thousands of protesters started chanting “Belarus! Belarus!” and waving flags.

After that Ukrainian singers continued to perform at the stage.
